I exercise w/ yoga and weighlifting. Each @ 1-2 hrs per week. Long and slow sessions. Not sure what short and sweet is.. sounds interesting.

For me, short and sweet is a single set of exercises that works my whole body. I don't lift to failure, and I'm never sore the next day. The weight is heavy enough to be challenging. Last rep or two is a struggle. Takes me about 20 minutes.

I have always been a HIT guy having been trained by an NFL strength coach. Going one set to failure is the norm for me. I have recently started something called the max pyramid protocol (http://www.bodybyscience.net/home.html/?page_id=798). I take some BCAA's before and after the workout to help with the soreness. It is too early to say how well it is working but I really feel the burn.

There are a lot of ways to skin this cat. The key point being, lift heavy things, just don't hurt yourself doing it!!!

Lexi, I've been in your exact boat and I would stick to light walks and add some qigong or tai chi because it helps to heal the adrenals. I recommend the dvd "Qigong for Cleansing", as it's a short, easy routine (once you learn it, it takes barely 10 min.)

You don't want to "work out" right now because your body is not strong enough to recover properly. With low cortisol, you'll just end up with fatigue and excess inflammation.

thanks hazyjane. this is what my body is telling me. my bf thinks exercise can fix anything... and i just hate the undertone of "lazy" when i have this conversation with him. i used to be a gym rat... chronic stairmaster, now i have the painful hip flexors and knees to prove it. ugh. such bad advice for so long... i miss the muscle tone i used to have though, before the adrenal fatigue really kicked my ass.

everything i am listening to reading now says "fix adrenals first".... and every doc i have been to in the last 15+ years dismissed this and used words like "fad" and "quackery"

    thanks Dr. k.

The ironic thing with adrenal fatigue is that you can't really make much muscle tone progress when you have it, anyway!

Just be thinking in terms of "nurturing" rather than "lazy". After all, nurture is a verb, too;)

If you like yoga then you can decrease your weight by doing yoga. The benefits of yoga is best to practice regularly, in case you’re new to yoga, then you must start by learning some basic poses. Many people find that regular yoga practice helps them to decrease stress and increase well-being.

    +1 Starting strenght is great!

Squats, deads, bench, chins, pullups and dips is all you need. 2-3 workouts per week, heavy weights
. One primary exercise (bench, squat or deads) + one assistance exercise (chins, pullups or dips). In and out of the gym in about 40 minutes = great results!

if you are in the pool, this is good.... I don't think you need all of it though.... you can use a noodle like the captains chair.

The less I do and the better I feel. But sitting still in the pool or just swimming isn't so good for me. I like to do balance exercises, at least.
