Why do I use candles at night most of the time?
The light you expose yourself to is MORE important as the food you eat. Most people don't perceive this but it's accurate. Why? How much do you know about melanopsin?
Light signals control growth and metabolism. The rising and setting of the sun give your body cues for hormone release, digestive processes, elimination, and regeneration.
Take a look at the image below of the spectrums of light sources. Notice how new energy-efficient lighting signals the brain in a completely different way than sunlight. These bulbs not only have a different spectrum but they flicker thousands of times per second; this is known as flicker rate. This affects the Muller cells in your retina to cause melanopsin damage. That is covered in the other picture below.
So yes, we're saving some money on our power bills but it comes at the cost of your health over the long term.
The second problem with artificial light is we now live in a state of perpetual daylight. This light exposure late at night ruins our internal timing mechanisms and the production of melatonin which allows us to regenerate and repair in sleep. How many people do you know who can't sleep nowadays?
This is just an example of why people who focus on supplements and diets to fix disease really don't have a clue about the big picture and how your environment is what dictates the function of the genome. Is diet important? In some cases yes. Are supplements useful? Totally, in the right context and with an eventual exit strategy, but they harm you when you are blue light or nnEMF toxic. You must fix the light environment you live under FIRST.
Here's a free way to massively help your health. Fix your circadian rhythm. First thing in the morning get outside and expose your eyes to natural daylight. This gives your body the signal it's morning and syncs your clock. Then buy yourself a pair of RaOptics blue-blocking glasses (discount code OPTIMAL) for after sunset.
Once you wear these glasses you'll begin sleeping like a rockstar because they increase melatonin levels by slowing melanopsin dysfunction. (You're welcome in advance) This can do more for your health than any bullshit sleep supplement that marketers are pushing on you now.
Lastly...the answers to chronic health problems will never be found in a bottle of pills or supplements. It's in identifying the root causes that are unique to your environment AND and changing the inputs and stressors in the environment that your body must respond to. Do that and add in TIME, and see how forgiving the body really is.

The same key can open the doors to heaven or hell. The environment it occurs in or the redox time stamp of the gut when it occurs decides which outcome you experience is the take home. Stop blaming food for what you environment is causing. Lesson is here. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-022-04408-7
