Sharon's Epi Paleo/Sugar Detox Journal

    After digging jelly beans out of the trash so that I could indeed finish the bag and eating sugary stuff every night for the past 2 weeks, I've had it. I formally start a 21-day sugar detox tomorrow.

    welcome........get a pic up. It is a new rule. This will be the last comment I make in this thread until the picture is up.

    And instead of waiting for tomorrow start now. When you convince yourself the answer is not now, the result is never achieved.
    You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step. You are what you do, and not what you say you'll do tomorrow.
    Do you "mine" your potential constantly or do you let is lie as an under appreciating asset? Those who leave their potential untapped don't add value to life and they can't get the best from life. Those who maximize their potential live full and die empty. We often underestimate our capacity for change. There is never a right time to do a difficult thing. Our job in life is to help ourselves create a vision to unleash our potential to help others. Our main task in life is to give birth to ourself, to become what we potentially might be. Discovering our potential removes us from false realities, and brings us back to the truth of our core. Our only limits are the ones we place upon us. Realize today, that mining your potential is on you. Excel at learning who you are. Practice being the ultimate you. Rise up today and mine that gold.

    We humans can and do lie to ourselves to soothe our emotions often. But what also is true that humans also implicit know when things are not right with them. Optimal health is a lot like pornography......you know it when you see and feel it simultaneously. That sensation should guide us........and the better we take of our brain the more I believe it does. This is why adversity is critically important in re creating wellness. Adversity cause some to break and others to break records. Who you choose to be is your choice. When you have to make a choice and don't make it, that in itself is a choice. So you still want to waste your time and try tomorrow something that should happen right now?

    I was a binge eater most of my life .... I can relate to picking something out of the garbage! been there - done that!

    Oh the shame, well I was shamed, now I know I'm not the only one to have done that I feel so much better lol. I've never sunk as low as to eat cooking chocolate though, it's so awful I would rather go without. I think the easiest way to stop with sugar is to just stop. Full stop. If you don't buy it, you can't eat it. That means none in the house, not for your husband or your children or your friend when she visits, none. I have a sister who has spent a lifetime not eating this and not eating that. Whenever she visited, her first words through the door were, "Have you got any biscuits, sweets, chocolate etc." Eventually she just bypassed the request and went straight to the cupboards.

    One day she came round to collect me as we were going off for a walk. On the table was a packet of chocolate biscuits, new, unopened (the bad old days you understand). In ten minutes, she had eaten half a packet and some chocolate. Ask her though and she will tell you, she never eats them. More accurately, she never eats her own because she never buys biscuits lol. Her other trick was to ignore the biscuits if they were out when we were having tea or coffee. Then she would take one and break it in half, "See me, I'm good, I'm restricting myself to only half a biscuit". The other half of the biscuit would sit there until her resolve broke and she ate it. Then she would break another one in half, repeat the cycle. This went on until she had eaten at least two or three biscuits. She would then declare she couldn't possibly eat any more because she was full. Self delusion at it's best!
