She has always had a great voice. Great cover. I like that she used the album version too, not the censored single version that most people know. It totally fucks up the intensity and meaning of the song when you change "so fuckin' special" to "so very special." I hate the radio version. I hate it very fuckin' much!

We were talking about verbal and non-verbal communication today, so...

    Don't think me unkind
    Words are hard to find
They're only cheques I've left unsigned
From the banks of chaos in my mind

And when their eloquence escapes me
Their logic ties me up and rapes me

De do do do de da da da
Is all I want to say to you
De do do do de da da da
Their innocence will pull me through
De do do do de da da da
Is all I want to say to you
De do do do de da da da
They're meaningless and all that's true

    Poets priests and politicians
Have words to thank for their positions
Words that scream for your submission
    And no-one's jamming their transmission

'Cause when their eloquence escapes you
Their logic ties you up and rapes you

De do do do de da da da
Is all I want to say to you
De do do do de da da da
Their innocence will pull me through
De do do do de da da da
Is all I want to say to you
De do do do de da da da
They're meaningless and all that's true

BTW... I was grade school friends with the former keyboardist for NIN Charley Clouser.

I LOVE this version. It is so incredibly haunting and you can here the pain.

Charlie turned me on to model rocketry. Loved going over to his house because we would always fire a rocket off!

Zenyatta muttada. few people outside the horse racing industry and music industry know that the Racing Mare Zenyatta is owned by they guy who signed the police to his record label back in the late 70's/early 80's. He named several horses after that record, it touched him so.

All Along the Watchtower is my favorite Dillon song. I remember watching the reboot of Battlestar Galactica on SciFi - and they kept playing notes of that song.... and it was eerie, I knew the cords but couldn't place it. they'd only play a few chords at a time.... and it was mesmerizing how they wove the song into the plot. and the reveal.... phenomenal

OK, I had to dig hard to find this one, but seems appropriate...

    Oscillations, oscillations
    Electronic evocations of sound’s reality

Spinning, magnetic fluctuations, waves of wave configurations
That dance between the poles off sound and bind my world to soul.

I walk the streets of moment. Head down to the ground.
Cars are stars remotely far. My only world is sound.
Passersby are worlds that fly. Far from the dance of time.
Time whirls round from pole to pole and swirls within the sound… of

so on my drive into the office for a meeting and a dr apt. I was thinking of covers. specifically those that I dig, and think were done better than the original....

one of which comes to mind is Godsmack's cover of Joe Walsh's Rocky Mountain Way.

which lead me down the path to great music that forces you to think about where you are Right Now, in the present moment - of which Social Distortion leads the pack about missing life b/c you're focused on the wrong things

Yes, yes he does and taps into stuff that people don't want to talk about. He also puts on one hell of a show.

    Hanging on in quiet desperation...
Possibly the best Floyd tune ever?
And check out this cool video...

and this one... I think this is amazing...

but I think the best one is her cover of the Velvet Underground (this is one of the most influential bands with regards to my exposure to music)
