Holey Cow ...... what a horror story ....Is no one held accountable for all this pollution going into our oceans?

I remember reading years ago that cruise ships dump all their garbage in the ocean - is that still happening?

That is horrifying and heart-breaking....it is just so tragic to think about all the things we have done and are still doing to harm our planet. This article reminded me of this trailer that I saw recently for the documentary Midway, about the plight of the Albatross. "Both elegy and warning, Midway explores the interconnectedness of species, with the albatross on Midway as mirror of our humanity."

This also reminds me of a question I wanted to ask...

Dr. Kruse, what are your thoughts about the safety of seafood from the Pacific now after Fukushima? I am new to the site, so I apologize if this question has already been asked and answered. I have been trying to buy wild caught seafood, but would it be better to buy seafood from the Atlantic or Gulf instead of Pacific seafood since there is a danger of radioactive water leaking into the Pacific Ocean? Does this make farmed seafood a better option than wild caught Pacific?

I think you should avoid pacific seafood if you can and shoot for the gulf.

That stinks as all they have here is pacific seafood. I'm in San Diego. I'm going to have to figure out a way to get back to Alabama.
