So, I have my Genova Diagnostics complete hormone test results in hand. Interesting...so much information. Think it will be quite useful in my consult later this month.

It has five different ratios listed on it, but NOT the Progesterone / Estrogen ratio. Have looked online for a formulas on how to convert the results. Let's just say I am mathematically challenged and leave it at that.

Anyone out there care to take a stab at it?

    Pregnanediol (24 hr urine) / 15.19 / Reference Range 0.30-4.20 micromol/24 hr

Listing each Estrogen result since I am not sure which is used in the calculation:

    Estrone (24 hr urine) / 26.3 / Reference Range 3.0-52.0 mcg/g Creat.

    Estradiol (24 hr urine) / 6.9
    / Reference Range 1.0-17.0 mcg/g Creat.

    Estriol (24 hr urine) / 262.3
    / Reference Range 9.0-60.0 mcg/g Creat.

    Thanks in advance,

    Dawn

Can't read your hand, but if you scan and post all here, may help.

Include all pages of report, results and discussion.

Add age, day of menstrual cycle when collecting urine.

Medicines and supplements that you are taking.

    Any known problems.

I had the same test done and would be interested in knowing more about how to interpret the results. My doc indicated the estrogen numbers are unreliable because I've been taking them orally (sublingually). I also don't have a direct progesterone result; only pregnanediol & pregnanetriol so can't calculate the P/E2 ratio.

    post-menopausal, no cycle

Your Complete Hormones test from Genova is urine test.

With that kind of test one measure Pregnenadiol and that represents/approximates Progesterone levels.

This is not direct Progesterone measurement, so you can't get P/E ratio.

Testosterone could be raised little higher.

Your Progesterone appears to be high, likely from supplemental progesterone.

Your ZRT morning cortisol is high, likely from supplemental progesterone.

Etiocholanone is little high, ----> highish E/A ratio, 5bR is stronger than 5aR, progesterone inhibits 5aR, you have little too much progesterone

THE is little high, too much cortisol, you have little too much progesterone

    You are using

daily Last used); 100 mg topical Progesterone (compounded)

(daily Last used); 1 mg topical Testosterone (compounded)

consider reducing progesterone and increase testosterone.

    ------------------------------------------

    I prefer using pregnenolone,

hoping to raise progesterone (and cortisol)

For myself (male) I use 300mg/day (spilt wakeup + noon) pregnenolone Micronized Lipid Matrix 150mg tabs, from Nutricology.

That raises my progesterone from (almost bottom in preg & prog) to low single digits on progesterone.

You (women, post-menopausal ) would likely feel better at low double digits (15 ???)

It is good to do blood tests (LabCorp) in paralel with urine tests.

There is a nice, most comprehensive that I know of, urine test at

    Meridian Valley Lab, www.meridianvalleylab.com

Fwiw my experience pregnenolone doesn't raise my Pg I've had to up my Pg to get it even close to the bottom of the Pg:E2 reference range.

Colleen has had the same experience. Women take mor Pg to get them in the range when it's in the toilet

When I was using first class transdermal pregnenolone and pregnenolone in pills and other types of pregnenolones,

I also was not getting anything in my blood.

I solved this problem by using

pregnenolone Micronized Lipid Matrix from Nutricology.

At one time I was using 900mg/day

    now

    300mg/day

That raises my serum pregnenolone, but it still is within range.

I am dosing pregnenolone while aiming at good progesterone and cortisol levels.

Specially cortisol around 20 in the morning.

That keeps me only slightly over men's range for progesterone that is the same as woman's in first half cycle.

    That is rather low progesterone~1.5ng/mL

Coleen is post-menapausal, and she likes to keep her progesterone at 10x of above level, flat throughout the month.

    That may require more pregnenolone.

    And

    monitoring by frequent testing.

    //

    ------------------------------------

If someone produces at least some pregnenolone,

Saving grace may be situation when by adding progesterone,

pregnenolone is not called for and backs up to higher level.

That could be checked and verified.
