What are your thoughts on prenatal vitamins if a woman isnt sure she is getting enough DHA?

I try to eat alot of seafood, but I know I am not getting enough DHA. I am currently trying to concieve. Doctors are so pushy about prenatals, that I am becoming fearful if I am doing the right/wrong things. What are your thoughts?

trying to conceive is a good thing, wishing you both success
    since
you asking this question, I think you are trying it already for some time.

When you say: Doctors are so pushy about prenatals
    I think:

what is the content of them
how did they, the doctors, have determined that you are missing it?

how do you know that you do not have enough DHA?
have you tested and it came low?
What about other things in that category?
That category must be in balance (you know).

    So,
my position is that you should maximize doing good stuff the natural way
    then
test and see what you are missing
    then
keep doing good stuff, add modifications for your shortcomings and also add something that you know that you are missing.
    ------------------------------------------
    Natural stuff:
Live according to good Circadian Rhythm
be naked (without anything sunscreens, moisturizers or eye cover), and be active under the sun.
do not use artificial lights indoor, red is ok, sleep in totally dark room.
do not change hours, ie. do not travel over time zones
at any time you can check your status doing this tests

    Micronutrient Test (MNT) $ 390.00

I did the dutch cycle mapping test JanSz recommended and found it very helpful! I was taking prenatal but honestly I feel my diet is so much better than the average person's that I stopped taking them. I instead focus on fertility enhancing foods, they talk a lot about them in Nourishing Traditions and you can find lots of info on the Weston A Price Foundation website.

Im not so sure Sally Fallon's WAP would be Dr. Price version of it at all.

Also asking this question about taking prenatals. The "whole foods" one that my chiropractor had on hand has rice bran in it so... no thank you. I've heard of Thorne brand and Seeking Health as options that contain folate and not synthetic folic acid. But then I wondered about just taking Folate by itself. And then I thought, eating more oysters and bone broth is probably a great starting point. I think most prenatal usage is based out of fear.

Are you focusing on all the "good stuff"? Morning sun, decreasing EMFs, all the seafood, and blocking blue light?

JanSz, I think the real question is not how to test for possible shortfalls and order stuff, but rather does an optimal epi-paleo woman NEED the highly recommended prenatal vitamins to have a healthy child?
