Optimal best practices for transitioning from P2-P3

Discussion in 'HCG Protocol' started by jeanie@truelongmont.com, Jul 8, 2012.

  1. Hola Great Resources,

I'd like to hear from you that have been successful with maintenance what you think your best practices are when going from P2-P3, There seems to be many more differences of opinion on how to proceed - seems like the P&I advice is too broad.

I've seen studied warnings about too much fat too soon, and simply eating too much right away, and to "test" foods etc.

    Vs.

Anything you want except starches and sugars.

I'm looking forward to starting P3 with a big ol bullet proof coffee - but more important is putting the scales in my favor as far as sustaining the LIW weight.

Also, for Steak Day - what about added fats? or a fat fast during the day by adding HWC or CO in the coffee? I've not seen any ideas for why steak day works other than it's really just a type of IF - in which case seems like I could put some nice kerrygold herb butter on my steak.

Speaking of steak, just saw the costco flyer had Organic Grass Fed NY strip steaks. . 36 of them for $135! Frozen, price includes shipping.

Unfortunately this is one of those YMMV things. I`ve seen people jump into BAB after their 3 days transition and do fantastic but I`ve also seen the opposite. a couple of things that seem to cross the various suggestions: leave cheese and nuts for the 2nd or 3rd week of P3, do be careful with dairy as it can show very quickly on the scale if dairy is not for you.

I went directly into the Leptin RX with second round and continued to lose but I know not everyone does that well. You could give it a try and see how you react. Were you doing the LR before? I think that might have helped me as I did the LR after my first P4 for a month and then did a second 24 day round and right into LR.

I immediately add butter and heavy cream. Though just butter is better because the cream has that lousy thickener in it. I add coconut oil right away too. I double my meat if I can get it down. Sometimes I can't on the first day of P3. I also eat an avocado on my first day because I'm usually craving them. LOL

I've tried other correction days. Salmon works almost as well as steak but not quite. Chicken doesn't work well at all. Neither does lean fish so I think the fat is important. I usually have coffee with cream throughout the day until time for steak. The weight loss is the same for me with or without cream and the fat makes it nicer. :)

  5. Good to hear this perspective - so far my experiences have been similar to yours. Also, we get raw pastured heavy cream that is just shy of butter (it's almost too thick for a spoon) so I have no qualms about additives. I just ordered 36 6oz steaks, so I should be ready!

  6. I've been doing leptin RX for around 5 months, a very low carb version. . .so my hope is that set me up well for this.

There are two versions of HWC without the carrageenan - Clover and Strauss. Both organic. There may be more but that's all I've seen so far.

    Yum, cavemam! Sounds terrific.

I can't find those brands here in Indiana. But butter is fabulous, much to my surprise. LOL

Did you lose at all on Leptin RX? I am just in the middle of a short round and also wondering how to proceed with leptin RX. When I did the reset before - I went up a couple of pounds. I think I have to cut out the bacon - because of salt/nitrates. At least that is my gut feeling.

  10. Salt is never a problem on weight gain, more CW. It's an underlying issue not the sodium. Now, other chemicals in processed foods, which are also often high in salt make one swell, but salt isn't the culprit - it's just been demonized.

So I did lose a bit of weight on the Leptin RX/Paleo Stuff. I thought it was fairly minimal, but got compliments and noticed. I changed a couple of sizes and tightened up as much as I was going to get.

The really amazing thing was I didn't GAIN weight on that way of eating, all while eating to satiety and definately NOT dieting. That was a huge thing for moi.

That would also be me. I cannot believe how much fat I was chowing down on esp when I took to drinking BPC cause I drink it with FOUR TBS of butter. I WAS using 8TBS when I first started drinking it that way (hahaha I was telling myself that 4 TBS was 4 ounces. Um, did the part of my brain that handles math go on vacation??)

for me I had begun to wonder if I just needed a boot in the hypothalamus to get this moving. which is why I'm on a 21 day round. We'll see how it goes. I plan on moving off the hcg and back onto ketogenic paleo, not necessarily back on the reset because if I lose like I hope I will it will me I have definitely returned to leptin sensitivity.

  12. So on the "how does HCG work" front - what have you seen that concludes it works on hypothalamus? I did read Robins book. It wasn't for me as my Dogma dismisses behavior and emotions - but she could have had some good science in there I overlooked?

  13. Seriously considering trying to choke down one of those mackerel smoothies as part of my BAB for my first non VLCD.

Do I need to slowly work up to eating a bab, or can I really just jump in with the optimal coffee and bab?

Darlene, the bare minimum round is 23 days on hcg, not 21. Just making sure. :)
