I understand that babies are born in ketosis. If there is a delay in the start of the the mother's breast milk flow, how long can babies make it without having to consume calories?

I know skin to skin contact with mom leads the "breast crawl" of the baby to the nipple and this, in turn, leads to let down of mom's milk. But what if that let down is delayed? How long can a baby generally go?
