If I'm taking Magnesium three times a day, when is a good time to take a vitamin D supplement?

1st thing in the morning. Then wait 2 hours before you take magnesium.

  3. I take my morning Mg then wait about 3 hours before taking my Vit D then another 3-4 hours before the next dose of Mg.

Is not D absorbed best with a meal? Take with your BAB, then wait a few hours to take Mg, as Patty Cake says.

What's the reason for waiting between taking D and Mg?

Vitamin D and magnesium fight for absorption, and magnesium wins.

Dr. Kruse has said that to me in a consult...I've separated them for the last six months.

My powder LEF Neuro-Mag has 1000 iu of D3. If Mg causes a problem with absorption of D, why would they add it?

You have the powder not the capsules. Capsules only have mag threonate. Powder also has calcium.

Can you guys tell me how Magnesium Malate tastes ? I got this brand "Magnesium Malate Powder Nature's Life 360g Powder", it tastes horrible. Maybe like ammonia. I just want to know if i was scammed.

I'm not sure why LEF is combining them....but then again multi vitimins often have combinations that cancel each other out...LEF also puts potato maltodextrin, rice powder, soybean and other not so great stuff in some formulas and other ones are great....I guess we just have to be vigilant and picky about where we get our supplements. I order from at least five different companies for the things I take.

I use magnesium malate powder from Beyond a Century and it has almost no taste at all, so maybe that ammonia taste smell may not be so good?

my tablet doesn't disintegrate so I don't get much taste but now that u mention it, I may have detected something like that a time or two..so the powder...could taste like that.

    Sistagrok,
I bought magnesium malate powder from Beyond a Century and i believe it's just white sand not real magnesium. Why ? I put a half of teaspoon into a cup of water and it did not desolve even after more than 24 hours. They refunded and i did not have to return it. Supplement industry is very unregulated so you end up bying crap from Chine many times.

Marcoc - Why do you think it should dissolve in water? My recommendation above is from Albion Labs and is USP. It does not really dissolve. The conditions of the gut are quite different from a glass of room temperature water.

Possibly because magnesium is a cofactor for utilizing vitamin D. Arguably, some suggested side effects of vitamin D might actually be signs of magnesium deficiency. D also enhances calcium transporters which I believe competes with magnesium absorption so perhaps the maker includes mag as insurance to prevent excessive calcification by those not getting enough menatetranone (K2 MK4).
