My 7 year old daughter is having tics and they are getting very aggressive, my heart is breaking for her. I suspect yeast is part of the problem and she is taking Nystatin (and having horrible die-off symptoms) I just got back her Mercury numbers (from blood) and they are 20 (elevated) I guess 10 or 15 is normal. I feed her packed tuna many times a week. Would seafood be enough to cause these or is it most likely from her vaccinations 3 years ago? SHould I take her off seafood? Anyone have advice on chelating while getting rid of yeast? I am a mess trying to find the right answers. Thank you
  2. Bren,

I'm so sorry you and your daughter are going through this. If it were me, I would totally cut the tuna - yes we all know seafood is good, but she's eating it now and that doesn't seem to be helping her. I have zero experience in all of this, except a friend who's son has tics (he spins and grabs his crotch). They went paleo for awhile, cutting grains - and it seemed to lessen, but came back with stress.

I would take special care with any chemicals etc (food dye, shampoos etc) and start talking to different professionals and see if you can find one that has treated these with success.

Have you done a GAPS type thing with her yet? Might be something you can do NOW while you look for medical help.

So, why do you think this is mercury?

That sounds really hard for both of you.

You can make great pesto with Brazil nuts and cilantro to help remove heavy metals. Also gelatinous foods like aloe Vera and chia seeds are a great help in heavy metal detoxing.

Is she getting enough magnesium? Have you also considered Chiro?
  5. Can you feed her smaller fish? Shellfish? Bigger fish have more mercury. Also try to stay away from cans if you can - BPA.

I buy the salmon in a pouch. Dress is up with mustard, avocado, lime juice, olive oil.

    Good luck!

Bren, I'm dealing with my own Hg issues and +1000 on ditching the canned tuna. (Though I'm guessing it's harder to face one's own toxicity issues than those of your child!!!) Not only is it canned (so full of BPA etc) and a big fish, but it's cooked at such high temps before canned that she's probably getting very little benefit from it. Find something with cilantro she loves (like the pesto TS suggested) and get her to eat heaps. And yes, make sure she's getting selenium from Brazil nuts. Also, lots of seaweed or iodine, too. I'd also be working hard on her gut - you can't get rid of toxins if you re-absorb them. Supplement with B vitamins, too, to help the methylation pathways. (You can also test for how well these detox pathways are working.)

In the meantime, try not to stress and take things one step at a time. Easier said than done, I know. But if you stress a lot about it, she will too and this will worsen things for her health.

    Hang in there. XO

20 for a child can destroy her life... concider 2 things

#1 a specialist who can dela with mercury chelation with a great not good track record.

#2 learn more about chelation and do it yourself.... tuna MAY be causing it, but it si more likely to be exposure you are unaware of. does she have amalgam fillings

    thoughts ( not suggestions)

    other sulphur agents.

--My son and I have high mercury build up and chelated with DMSA. I mentioned to the doctor that their is some reason why our bodies did not get rid of this naturally. He said we might have to chelate some our whole lives. Now fast foward several years, I have found that I do not methylate properly and that is probably the reason I do not get rid of metals and biotoxins. So I need to get the methylation working and the toxins and metals should come out. I need to fix what is broken and not try to push the body to do what it cannot do.

Get the lymp moving, fix the gut then fix methylation for me and my son.

how did the DMSA go? How old was your son? I can't believe her mercury is so high, the first tic came the night of her 5 year old vaccinations. I am so distraught. But, yeast seems to be playing into this in a big way too.

He was around 12 when I had him tested. Wonder if he got it through pregnancy or vaccines? DMSA did work for him, but not so good for me. I have not checked his levels in the last 2 years to see if they have stayed low.
