Low free T, high iron, High BUN/Cr

Discussion in 'Optimal Labs' started by thomasdoud@gmail.com, Mar 12, 2014.

  1. I have some labs I would love your opinion on. I am following many of the protocols and the key things I see on recent labs is high iron, high BUN/Cr ratio and Low free T. I will attach two sets of labs done 11/13 and 3/14 as well as my 23andme profile regarding iron. I gave blood between these two tests to help to help the iron levels. Any comments, links to similar discussions or advice are welcome.

Surprising to me is the jump in BUN/Cr since I have made changes in water quality and EMF between the two samples. img011.jpg img012.jpg img013.jpg

Does high iron have to do with environment?

High EMF can cause the body to collect additional transition metals, like iron. And aluminum.

    I see:

    1. Possible B12 issues through combination of higher MCV (96), lower total protein (6.4) and SNP's that partially disrupt absorption and predispose one to Lithium issues that regulate B12 uptake. The low total protein and slight elevation of liver enzymes indicate stress to the organ, possibly due to intestinal inflammation and absorption issues. Always makes me wonder about intrinsic factor antibodies?
    2. Additional signs of liver issues include high SHBG and low Free T.
    3. Higher Eosinophils suggest some sort of allergy and or intestinal infection.
    4. HDL borderline low
    5. IGF-1 low=low autophagy/rest and regeneration
    6. Iron issues correlate with lower energy/higher stress/thyroid weakness
    7. Correlates with previous observation that energy is lower than optimal as suggested by higher TSH, higher CRP, signs of inflammatory stress and genetic predisposition to issues with supporting cycles necessary to maintain immunity and high level metabolic function. Worth getting full Thyroid panel with antibodies, gut study of some sort. Consider obvious food allergens as a source of gut inflammation and liver stress: dairy, gluten, eggs, nuts, grains in general, sugar.
Forget the basement, try a week in a debris hut on the Upper Peninsula....just joking.

What the heck is a debris hut Josh?

  12. Josh have a rustic cabin in UP sounds good. Thanks for your input. I also have a Yasko analysis that discuss B vitamins based on SNP's. Uber complex but the vast number of supplements advised makes me overwhelmed by that whole analysis. Just started this today: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004EG67NA/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I am assuming my iron is from my SNP variation first and secondarily detox issues. Will give blood q2months to address iron.
I did a liver detox before this. Do you have any specific tests / protocols for Low T/high SHBG/ liver function?
My November tests were more in depth on Thyroid and looked normal. Surprised to see TSH go up and BUN/Cr especially with added protocols. Maybe need to hammer EMF issues more.
I have also added after Jack's reference to this:

I am sure I need more CT.

Yasko's new book is quite simple and good. I am reading it now. I would get a practitioner to work with if I were you until when and if you really feel grounded in the material. It is not simple and the perspective from seeing many cases really helps to stage and prioritize things. The recommendations are to cover most things for most people, they may not be necessary for you. Much of it is new to me in spite of many years of study and practice. I am learning myself. The liver usually suffers because of stuff happening elsewhere that then overloads it combines with genetic limitations such as the ones suggested by your SNP's.
