    Think of
    condition (electron-dynamically) of the earth at the time of (sculpting mountains)
    people observing it
    writing about that in their books

    And now, people are afraid of arcs of welding rods.

    Which way the progress is going?

    The Discovery That Transformed Pi
    Mar 16, 2021

    For thousands of years, mathematicians were calculating Pi the obvious but numerically inefficient way. Then Newton came along and changed the game.

    The 2nd law of thermodynamics.
    Is the direction of energy transformation processes that can occur spontaneously. It says nothing about the rate of this process. Catalyst and enzymes control how the chemical substrates experience time in the quantum world. The network is never in the red, so the 2nd law is never violated by life in a metastable state.
    Energy transfer via heat which is what the science of thermodynamics is based on is by far the least efficient and non-specific form of energy or information transfer
    This is why using a 'calorie' for any metric in biology is absurd. Absurd when you understand what QED says about heat transfers.

    Life does not make a living by absorbing heat from the environment. It uses light to control electron motions. No organism can live like a heat engine, nor can it obtain its negative energy or entropy by feeding on carbon or diamond pulp and burning it with oxygen. Calories are for people who just live in a classical world of the past's understanding of biology and chemistry. Understanding that energy and information are synonymous is the first step in letting go of the calories in and calories out myth from medicine

    @Jack Kruse
    Do you agree that healthy humans when they make huge amounts of ATP daily, it is almost equal to a person's body weight?
    In process of making that ATP they synthesize water, (2H+O+lots of energy).
    To visualize;
    the amount of that water is about equal in volume as, if blood going into the heart was always made from newly synthesized water.
    Almost 7500 liters of synthesized water daily (at rest), three times that much at maximum effort.
    If the above is correct
    the energy a healthy person (at rest) uses would light 1350 street lamps, 1000 Watts each lamp.

    @Jack Kruse
    Please address the above energy usage by all mammals.
    There is also the issue of melanin, which disassociates all above water.
    If I understood your posts correctly, that process provides additional energy.
    Energy transfer (via heat)
    Is synthesizing or disassociation of water an energy transfer via heat?

    I think that you meant heat conduction only.

    How about keeping calories
    counting them correctly? (Same wish as fo Covid-19), just do it right.

  18. Thermodynamics is a byproduct of biological processes; such things can be measured and useful in medicine as diagnostic tools.
    For example:
    • Intraocular pressures of 40-50 mm Hg can cause rapid vision loss and can precipitate retinovascular occlusion
    • Cerebral Perfusion Pressure higher than 70 mmHg was associated with greater risk of acute respiratory distress syndrome
    • Intraspinal pressure or spinal cord perfusion pressure greater than 90 mm Hg is indicative of an acute infection of the fluid.
    Thermodynamics did not help, hinder, nor provide health. It is an environmental measurement of what occurred. We can speculate what indicators may be in or out of range. These do not lead us to an optimal range, even though we often believe the average is best. Using thermodynamics, we can at best make a guest.

    Understanding a mechanism of action, validating against observable data points, we can begin to disprove any hypothesis <- we need better ideas.

    Nature designed photosynthesis to split water molecules to obtain the diatomic oxygen and hydrogen.
    As Dr. @Jack Kruse states above - "It uses light to control electron motions."
    Man has to use thermodynamics - heating water to 2000 degrees Celsius to do what nature did at "room temperature."

    When I look for answers to simple questions, my designer is Nature -> Understanding her, becoming intimate with her.

    When doing heat/energy balance it is a good idea to count all sources.
    If you cannot count them all, at least count all (known) elephants.
    If you have to miss something, miss the stuff that is far away from the decimal point.

    Do not miss the energy that lights 1350 street lamps
    and worry all the time about something that may represent less than one of those lights.
    @Jack Kruse

    One more time
    Mammalian life sucks Earth's energy big time.
    That energy is many times over the Sun's energy falling on Earth in real-time.
    Discuss that too.
