Light bulbs

Besides candlelight and amber bulbs, are there any other light sources which could be safely used in the home? Husband has put the kibosh on amber bulbs (surprise surprise) and wants to stick with neutral/white light.

I've been buying 25 watt bulbs. If a fixture has 4 bulbs in it, I replace one with a 25 watt. Then in a month or so, I replace another. DH's night vision was really bad, but it seems to be improving with better nutrition. Since it is summer, I have been more lenient with light in the evening. In winter I will be much more strict.

Also, I use 60 watt yellow bug lights at the kitchen stove and in the refrigerator. Perhaps your husband, if he doesn't cook much, won't mind that. If I could find lower-wattage bug lights I'd snap them up pronto.

Thanks for the suggestions. The good thing is my husband really doesn't like light (vampire) so he doesn't like bright bulbs at all. Most in the house are 40 watt. I need to get more anyway so I will see about buying the 25 watt. I have a huge fluorescent light in my kitchen that I'd rather do without. Unfortunately we rent so I can't go changing fixtures.

My husband only comes in the kitchen to forage for snacks and ask me what's for dinner so I don't think he really cares about kitchen lighting, LOL.
