With all this talk about Pink Floyd .... I would like to buy some .... but which ones? which album?

    This must sound really lame....

I gather - after a visit to iTunes ..... that a song can be on different albums and have different treatments???

Don't laugh ...... I have had my head buried in Julia Child et all for the last century ...... I have never owned an ipod - preferring live music.

Where should I start? ..... and if you laugh at me - I will know .....:)

Ok, ANY are awesome. Start with you tube and see which ones you might like. Yes, there are many versions of some of the most popular songs but most of them are live recordings.

One of my favorites is Delicate Sound of Thunder, a double live album and then Pulse, another live double album. Pulse has the whole album The Dark Side of the Moon played live. The Wall is pretty good. I am a big fan of the David Gilmour stuff and the the real early stuff it a bit trippy for me.

Maybe I can try to send you a song or two since I have pretty much ALL of them. Just let me know what you might want.

One of my fantasies is to be a background singer for Pink Floyd. They don't need to turn the mic on, just let me be on stage with them :)

The visual on this YouTube version reminds me of Dr Budwig having her patients beds rolled outside into the daylight: fresh air, sunshine (vit D) and circadian resetting.

    I love their entire anthology.

Dark side of the moon is epic, as is Wish you were here.

For me personally - Momentary Lapse of Reason was a profound album I bought the tape at a local record store on the release date. I wore that damn thing out. IT was a pivotal album in my teen years.

As I was beginning my career in the Air Force they Released Division Bell. That Album has stayed with me. the lyrics on that album resonated as I was blooming as an adult.

And of course if you get Dark Side of the Moon - you can sync it up and play it while you watch the Wizard of Oz muted. Cool synchronicity totally worth watching just to watch it. I was shocked that DH never did that...

um yeah. Its pretty wild. I told DH we'll have to cue it up one day... start the album after the last roar of the Lion....

ETA when you do this its referred as the Dark Side of the Rainbow

"What do you want from me"....................................... good song :)

I have done a lot of dumb stuff in my life and have learned from everything so I try to say that I have no regrets but NOT buying tickets to see Pink Floyd on their Pulse tour when they were in Madison WI and Camp Randall is my one regret in life. My hubby lived one block from the stadium and we partook in some adult beverages before the concert since a bunch of his friends had tickets. We started to walk around the stadium seeing if there were tickets available and we found some but I would have had to walk a ways to get some cash and was getting tired from drinking all day so we passed (STUPID, STUPID, STUPID ).

Now, my only hope to seeing them is to either see Roger Waters (which I heard is really good) or David Gilmour if they ever tour again.

So - there is a chance they will tour again???

I bought the pulse album last nite and went to bed with it.... I love it - thanks everyone!

What other favorite artists do you have? What else have I missed??? That is going to be a long list I think......

I really regret not having had a misspent youth!

A couple I will forever remember....

Frank Sinatra 5 years before he died.....just him and an orchester - all that was needed...his voice even at that age
Whitney Houston as a teen bc it was my first big one....
Celine Dion for her dancing....having all of Madison Sq Garden on their feet and dancing right along
Billy Joel and Elton John and Phil Collins for pure fun all the way....

Would love to hear Barbara Streisand...or Andrea Bocelli.

ABBA....live. The Beatles must have been amazing too
