Throw away the Fitbit and get outdoors and exercise as you were designed too. We now have proof that the sun raises oxygen tensions. I have told my members for years the MAIN REAL benefit of solar exposure is that it raises venous oxygen saturation. I figured this out while doing experiments in the sun versus seeing the result in the ICU of how the incident light EMF affected blood gases drawn from central venous catheters. Now we have great data supporting my observations of 12-15 years ago. It turns out higher blood levels of vitamin D were associated with a 2.9-fold increase in cardiorespiratory fitness. We can measure this with VO2max testing to trend the effect. I have found we can make better predictions of how much sun really needs when we understand your haplogroup, SNP and SAP's and your current latitude and redox risk. These are assessment tools I have been using for years in mitohacks to make decisions on what should occur next. The latest data says with each 10nmol/L increase in vitamin D in the blood was associated with a 0.78 mL/kg/min increase in VO2 max. I personally believe that number is dynamic for each person's mitochondria and environment. I have found in hacks that my own changes with the light environment I am in. This is an observational study but it is the kind of study I look for when assessing my own mitohack data for comparison. for this reason I think it is a really good bit of information to share. It is another reason why I recommended to my members to sell all gym memberships unless they have outdoor facilities. I also think future trainers will have to bring nature to their business plans for Black Swans who want to do exercise well. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releas…/2018/…/181030091449.htm

We have taken up lawn bowls in our new home town. We are outside for hours every day and loving every second of it. We usually go early to the ocean and take breakfast with us. Then we walk in the surf and swim in the rock pool and follow that with a couple of hours of lawn bowling.

    Being outside is mesmerising.........

    I just came back from my favorite (and only..lol) exercise;

Taking a walk in the woods, sprinting (just very short) a few times, and take a short swim nude in the tiny lake on the way.... It all takes about 40 minutes.

Makes me feel soooo happy every time! The sky was gray and cloudy, and dusk set in... about 10 degree C so pretty warm, almost no wind today... I did not see a single soul all the way. Just me and nature...

@Inger , how long are your dips in the winter cold water? I’m working my way up to that in cold weather...:)

Sunlight is the best C channel blocker I know. Exercise is second best. Maybe this is why it is a "mitochondrial vaccine" for autoimmunity and cancer? “We found that UV-B light boosted the production of vitamin D, and of regulatory T cells, which play an important role keeping our immune systems in check.

“Our findings have important implications for future interventions including the recommendations fora healthy lifestyle and a possible role for phototherapy and / or vitamin D supplementation in the prevention or treatment of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.” https://m.medicalxpress.com/news/2012-07-sunlight-vitamin-d-autoimmune-diseases.html

Stopped exercising in gyms about 2 years ago. I do lift weights in my basement now (I know not the most ideal) with red and blacklights, and the window wide open. Some sun shines through my basement window so I soak up some of that sun between sets.

I love when dogma crashes down. Hey you "misundertanders" of mTOR biology. Suck it. Yes, I am talking to you, Ron Rosedale. 5 papers have now shown that exercise can induce an increase in protein synthesis through a rapamycin-INSENSITIVE mechanism. Another prediction checked off my list. Time to re-write the textbook with the quantum biologic reasons this occurs in nature!!!

Black Swan analysis on 5G risks:
    1. Less latency into tissues = loss of feedback control
    2. More speed into human tissues
    3. More nnEMF 5G coverage to interfere with natural EMF
    4. Greater capacity to influence even more human tissues
    5. Density to impact more human tissues
    6. All of this equals more melanopsin dysfunction which creates leptin resistance from the destruction of every chromophore you learned about in this AM video on Quantum Biology on this page.
    7. What is Leptin resistance in a 5G world Jack?
    8. Leptin resistance is a photonic process in human biology linked to the liberation of retinal and leptin destruction in our skin and subcutaneous fat. So what does blue light and nnEMF (0G-5G) lead to give what we've learned about melanopsin/retinal links? It ruins the Bazan effect to ruin the long loop to cause liver level leptin resistance. This blocks DHA to be replaced in cell membranes in the liver and CNS/PNS. This causes many communication and memory issues via a broken circadian mechanism via the eye and skin. The pic On the Bazan effect I always show is about the eye but it was created before you knew melanopsin/retinal was in the subcutaneous fat and skin arterioles. Broken Bazan leads to = Leptin resistance at liver level = lowered global DHA in liver cell membranes that induce PPARγ-target catalase expression and reduce ROS levels, leading to the inhibition of JAK2/STAT3 = what leptin resistance is inside a cell below the pathway level of Ph.D. or MD understanding.
    9. Most think a physician's first instinct is to protect you because of what we are taught to believe. It comes from the “do no harm” narrative. A Black Swan physician knows better. Our first instinct should be to push you to your breaking point so you learn how to save your own ass because no one is going to help you.
    10. REALITY OF ALAN = artificial light at night is deadly. More AM sun = more melatonin = less chance of leptin resistance. Blue light at night makes melatonin vanish = leptin resistance =mitochondriac and melanopsin wisdom and proves the food guru fail.....
Human behavior is fascinating. We like to think of ourselves as intelligent, rational beings. But we regularly fail to recognize basic logical fallacies. Our hedonistic propensities propel us to accept correlation as causation when it appears to validate behaviors we like to engage in, like abusing light technology under the guise of "progress" and crafting the narrative the sun is toxic. It is pure insanity what we have allowed to pass as science in medicine today.

Best conversation/exercise of recent memory was at the open house two weeks ago... Climbing Jack's oak tree with Jeremy while having an hour long conversation about life, movement, touch, the future of how we might bring movement to people in the right ways, effectively and from the right motive, etc.

Gawd if only my work meetings could be done in trees.

I've been reading Erwan new book for the last two days and I have to say it is one of the better books on nature and movement out there. Black Swan's go grab a copy. @erwanlecorre new book is a breath of fresh air into this industry! #MovNat https://amzn.to/2H05sSp

Here was my review on the book today.

Exercise in Nature is part of the human prescription for health.
    By Dr. Jack.Kruse on January 14, 2019
    Format: Hardcover
I had the pleasure of spending a week with Erwan 5 years ago in the mountains of New Mexico in January for cold weather training MovNat. I got to experience all of this man's knowledge before he ever decided to write it down in book form. You are doing yourself a disservice if you do not experience his work one on one. Until you gain this ability his new book might be your best way to entangle with him now. I received the book 4 days ago and read it to completion. This morning I had patients over at my Longevity Center and we climbed my Oak trees at the Farm to take the picture above. The book inspires you to get outdoors in nature and begin to move as you were created too. The main point I got from Erwan's book is when we begin to use evolutionary biology to guide our decisions instead of our feelings and socially created beliefs........we get better.

Nature facilitates this. Doing exercise in her gym is a great way to begin. We need to use evolutionary thinking to guide and master our thinking. This book creates the mindset......if you’re with me in nature......you will get optimal. Erwan is a man of action. Within this book he uses words that will whisper to you, whatever you hold in your mind will tend to occur in your life. If you continue to believe as you have always believed, you will continue to act as you have always acted. If you continue to act as you have always acted, you will continue to get what you have always gotten. If you want different results in your life or your work, all you have to do is change your mind. He wants us to do our thinking and action outside and in nature to facilitate the change. We do not need an intelligent mind that speaks, but a patient heart that listens to nature. Make your choices and you create your life.......This is what MovNat is and this is what is printed in words in this book. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who wants to make nature and exercise their new normal. It does not matter if you are ill or not. It does not matter if you are in tip-top gym shape now or not. Erwan wants you in nature moving as you should and can if you just try. Just because you’re not sick now doesn’t mean you’re healthy....

Health is merely the slowest rate at which one can die. This is why Noah built his Ark before the rain began to fall and I have a sense it is why Erwan put his wisdom in this book for the public. Cherish it.

" I love not man the less, but nature more"......

However, there is the Law of Specificity Jack...... I have practiced Movnat for several years now. I get it. But, it won't turn you into a crossfit champion or a marathon or Ironman champion or olympic boxer.

It's a case of choosing exercise for performance or health. Movnat is great for health, not optimal for performance.

There is a way of combining the two, but that's another discussion for another day.
