The first thing that comes to mind is to suggest giving yourself a break during those times. Like actual rest, seclusion and pampering. Since I've been more attuned with my cycle and the female energy I can absolutely tell now when I am about 24 hrs from my period--I am crazy irritable and just want to be left alone. It turns out the stereotypes about PMS are really distortions of honoring the female body and wisdom, as we try to ignore that with things like the Pill and attempt to fit feminine energy into our modern (dare I say patriarchal) world. I have no doubt you understand I'm speaking on a spiritually energetic level and not male-bashing here. So when we are "cranky" or "irritable" or all the other colorful words people use to describe a woman's need for space to herself during menstruation, it is our body and psyche's way of telling others to back off so we can have that sacred space. There are beliefs that the "moon time" was a time when women would gather together to basically have a kind of vision quest. This is the original meaning and intent behind the Red Tent, before it was appropriated and turned into a place of shame. It was a sacred space to gather and support other women, not a space to shamefully hide or be hidden from society while you were "dirty." There are beliefs and anecdotes that show us women would gather during their shedding and commune with Spirit to receive messages for themselves and their communities. There is belief that the menstrual blood is sacred and contains wisdom...and there's science here and there resonating with this, like the discovery of stem cells in menstrual blood.

If you're interested in such things, here is one blog I really found interesting on this topic: http://www.moonsong.com.au/the-spiritual-practice-of-menstruation/. I'm happy to share any other info or links. It is really amazing how being on birth control can lead a person to mates they otherwise would not pair with. That kind of truth makes me want to put on my tinfoil hat, because it's real. I've also experienced rage wrt my cycles. I'm still in the process of sorting that out. Gotta run--family calls, but I look forward to interacting more here on the forum! Love your posts :)

Lovely! I laughed out loud at your tinfoil hat comment, I actually made one the other night out of curiosity :) They'll be all the rage soon! haha

Yeah, I've read a bit about red tents. My husband works away a lot and it's just me and the kids (4 and 2) and that definitely takes its toll on my sanity. If I knew for certain that day 24 I was satan himself then at least I could ask my husband not to travel that day and I could take myself off. Like I said, my cycle likes to chop and change so I'm never sure when it's going to strike. I will totally make more effort to chill out and not try to do everything! Oh wait, I'm a Mum, silly me :)

It's a work in progress. I've been tracking my cycle for about 9 months since my period came back after breastfeeding and I'm sure when things calm down (that happens, right?) I'll be able to make better sense of my cycle :) Thanks for your input!!

Since you ladies are so open here I've also tracked my cycle and will detail it below:

Day1: Wake-up, calculate possibility for morning intimate session. Eat lunch, calculate possibility for noon session. Eat dinner, calculate possibility for evening session

Day2: Wake-up, calculate possibility for morning intimate session. Eat lunch, calculate possibility for noon session. Eat dinner, calculate possibility for evening session

Well, OK it just kind of repeats from there with regular "You look good in that" statements thrown in.

Also the first time you yell at your husband and he gets quiet, it's not actually that he's just become a great listener. It's that he's taking a moment and thinking "Wait, so there's probably not going to be any sessions today. Yeah probably none at all. Well! Maybe tomorrow!"

Fabulous insight into the male psyche there, @drezy, thanks for keeping us up to speed with the daily turmoil that begets the male of the species.

I sometimes wish I was a man just for a couple of days to see what it's like. Probably quite boring, eh? Who wants to be same in same out every day. Us women are spicy and unpredictable and I love that!!

In other news, I was out all day yesterday tackling the garden in the delicious sunshine (no more for about a week) and I burnt my arse.

Mostly, I had pants on whilst gardening - for the record, nettles are not fun when you're largely naked!

I had wee breaks in between where I was starkers. Keeping an eye out for the postie of course. Unfortunately the landlord popped down and got a sight of my behind!

    I think I'm a naturist at heart. There's a naturist beach around Loch Lomond I'm told :)

Those damn posties are a thorn in my side!!! and lately- the boys have been dropping by un announced!

Our regular postie now comes into the backyard if he thinks we are home ..... and one neighbour brought us over some lemons yesterday ...yikes!

hahaha - how do you like *these* lemons ;)

Seriously, my boobs do look like squeezed lemons now. 4 years of breastfeeding has taken its toll. I've heard @Jack Kruse talk about boobs and ass on a podcast before, talking about DHA being stored there. I'm kinda hoping if I start eating fish a way lot more that my boobs will come back to life a bit. I seriously don't care if that's fucking vain. I had brilliant boobs before my kids sucked the life out of them :) Wouldn't obviously change that for the world. I wasn't breastfed and I'm still pissed at my Mum about it... :)

Not to worry ladies! DHA from seafood and fish will make your jugs fluffy and perky again and you can add some exercise to help build your pectoral muscles and you're not going to have to deal with going south. 99.9% of the time, I am braless now. My girls detest those concoctions.:eek:

I'm using DHA topically, mixed with ghee .... not sure I'll find a scientific study on topical DHA makes jugs fluffy and perky again, :D but I'll watch for signs and report back. :D

Nice hack Sue! Check out the video of the African tribe ladies. They all have beautiful breasts. Lots of sunlight, which builds dopamine and no bras, which weaken muscles. Morning sun builds collagen too. What do modern women do?

Wow! @Mystic Rose60 you are giving me hope - thank you! I haven't worn a bra for about 6 years. I hate them! I tried once a couple of years ago and my boobs looked so weird. Yeah, I remember my friends saying that me not wearing a bra would result in saggy boobs. It ain't the bra, it's the breastfeeding! :)

@Sue-UK do you mean like a fish oil capsule mixed with ghee and rubbed in? hahahaha I can just see my husband's face if he went in for a kiss with good old fishy boobs hahahaha. Might try it...

    Fluffy boobs for the win!

There's no fish smell to the DHA and EPA oils, and its got a bit of lemon and rosemary in it. I'm on day 2 of a capsule broken open into a small amount of ghee, as a presun cream. My skin loves it . :)

I've been taking PQQ and CoQ10 for a few days combined with Lion's Mane. I just remembered a password my husband gave me 24 hours ago! Not an easy password either, like bananas. It was full on letters and numbers!

Before I get too carried away with myself I did forget my own landline number whilst leaving a message on a voice mail yesterday. Fail!! :)

Emma I never wear bras either - just at work because the bosses wife says I have to! She says it is way too hot for the male guests to see my nipples under my shirt..lol
My breast are just lovely and firm, I love them. I hate bras too! :ninja:
