I can't offer any enlightenment - except to say ....when we first got here one year ago there was a weekend when there was a bunch of murders.
Jack was here at that time too.
We didn't even know that it had occurred until days later when Jeremy told us about it.

We generally feel very safe but are mindful of certain areas and we don't walk after dark in strange areas.

But - these are the same precautions we would take anywhere that we have lived.

We feel quite safe where we live - in Atami. There are always loads of people out walking after dark going to Pelicanos etc.

When driving and using GPS sometimes I yearn for an app that would allow me to exclude driving thru high crime areas.

We felt totally safe when we were down there for two week. I thought the ad that Bukele posted of the gang members is prison was tone deaf, but they haven't had a murder there in 300 days and counting.

  6. Charlei and I went late Jan. felt very safe moved around a bit, never felt in danger. I think safer than Houston or NOLA. Walked around in the evenings w/ no trouble. goin back sometime in April. Met up w/ Dan and his wife and Jermey, we had a great time.

We live out in the country in VT so we feel safe where we are, but I would say ES feels much safer than US cities. It took us a day or two to get used to the "developing world" look of the some parts of the country, but after that we really relaxed. It helps that our tribe has such a presence, and that Jeremy is so helpful.
