Here's a new one for me...my right ear is is clogged, like it's swollen and congested and I can't hear out of it. Funny, because I have no other cold or allergy symptoms, just one clogged ear canal. Happened about an hour after my 58 degree bath (hard to get the water down to 55 now).

My water is no longer cold but I can't afford bags of ice every night for CT. So my water that was ~54 degrees is now coming out 64-65. Ugh! And it isn't even into the summer hear yet. I just did 45 mins in it and I swear it was more brutal than the colder temps, shivered the whole time. I normally only really shiver of any consequence after I've gotten out of the tub. I'd even prefer sub 50 degrees for shorter times than this torture but it ain't happening in this weather. Must think of something...

Oh and another wave of breakouts...now making their debut along my hairline by my forehead and chin with other lovely gunk seeping from the pores on my nose. Sorry for the unpleasant visual!

Your tap water is following the seasons - maybe just go with it and get real hardcore next winter?

I took a nice long 30 min shower CT at full cold Tuesday night. Felt good and refreshed but yesterday I hated everyone and felt depressed. I have not felt that way in years and it was a bit scary. I was pissed off at my wife for something she did 6 months ago. Today I am feeling myself again but man that was a bit disturbing.

Yep...welcome to the roller coaster! I started supplementing with DIM and it seems to have helped the happy-sad-omgwtf roller coaster quite a bit.

I know. I'm loathing summer because it is interfereing. :) I'm too impatient and have too much healing to do. I've gotta come up w/something, even if it isn't something I can impliment every single CT session but at least a portion of them.

I have 10 one liter water bottles (drank the seltzer water first...lol) that I freeze and dump in the tub with me. It's equivalent to 20 lbs of ice (yes, I weighed it). I take the caps off and pour the melting icewater over anything that is not submerged. Then I refill the bottles by pushing them under water. At the end of the bath I re cap them and pop them back in the freezer. A little bit of a hassle, but it's free.

My last CT session was 8 days ago--50 min bath at 40 - 42 degrees, including a few short face dunks during the last few mins. This was my 1st 40 degree CT. The coldest previously was 50 degrees. Within 24 hrs of my last CT, I got a sore throat, rapidly resulting in a lot of sinus drainage and respiratory infection (mucus, coughing) and minor fatigue. I've taken a couple of warm baths and a warm shower this week. As much as I previously preferred my cold showers and baths; they do not appeal to me this week. I have a history of chronic sinus infections; although, with a "clean" diet (like Paleo), I am usually not bothered by them. I haven't had this severe of a respiratory illness for over 2 years; so, I'm wondering if the 40 degree CT session contributed to this. I would expect some sinus drainage due to CTs anti-inflammatory effects; however, I'm a little shocked by how rapidly the infection moved into my lungs with lingering effects without any improvement in 7 days. Any opinions or similar experiences?

I got a sinus issue from my second ct experience, a whopping 70 degree bath three months ago. After three months I still get pretty hefty detox whenever I do something "colder" than normal. I'm down into the low forties as well. I'm sure it was your bath that stirred this infection up. Good times!

I initially thought it was from experimenting with the Malbecs for a couple of weeks prior to the onset of my illness. I'm really not suppose to drink any wine due to my allergies to molds & sulfites, but I wouldn't expect a lingering respiratory infection from the wine alone. The wine could have precipitated these issues, but I think the CT contributed to it.

Time to revive this thread, since it saved me when I thought I was absolutely dying. Consistently been doing CT in a horse trough (creativity is called for sometimes) for ~2 weeks now with water temps 55-60 (good ole Bali'more heat of >90 during the day) despite 100 lb of homemade ice. However, definitely seeing progress and had been feeling better until about two days ago when...

WHAM. I got my TOM, horrible lethargy, sharp headaches, nausea/lack of appetite, and mood swings GALORE. I had been feeling almost great up until this point, except for mood swings and slight increase of hunger. However, those were nothing compared to these detox symptoms. Thank goodness for you all who provided your insight and encouraged me to keep jumping in that tub. However, like many have said, having to go through these symptoms to rid myself of the torment I put my body through in my youth is worth it!

One interesting side effect appeared when I did my first "proper" CT in the sea last week after only having had cold showers at home until then. I noticed that the 13C temperature didn't feel that much on my body except in my armpits where the sea water felt freezing cold. The reason was that my cold shower routine did not include my armpits.

The day after I noticed stinging in my armpits when I put my daily dose Magnesium Oil there. When I looked in the mirror, I noticed several small red blisters in both armpits. Some kind of detox/die off obviously, but it would be interesting to find the root cause. Cold urticaria or something else?

  14. Totally fascinating!

    Hives--a good thing?

I'm a newbie and I'm having rashes too. I've been combing the forums all day seeking some sort of confirmation that this is a sign that my body is detoxing. If this is a good sign, then I must be doing something right! I got my first rash on day 3. Definitely hives. Benadryl helped. If you don't want to use topical hydrocortisone, you can go with the old fashioned calamine lotion.

But here's my concern-- estrogen? Please tell me I'm not producing more estrogen. I'm a 50+ woman and I don't need MORE estrogen at this point. Menopause is no fun, and prior to starting Leptin Rx, I would get very irregular but super heavy periods. I don't want to go through that again.

If the hives are a good sign, I achieved that with 3 days of proper eating alone (no CT). This tells me I might hold off on the CT for awhile. I think I have about all the detox symptoms I can handle right now!

At first I thought the hives were from a food allergy (like I OD'd on eggs), but today I didn't have any eggs or coconut oil and right after lunch I started breaking out again. So, it wasn't eggs or coconut oil.

Question: how long will these "dying off" symptoms last?

Yes, vwaggs, I'm having the rashes too -- started on day 3 of primal diet. I'm so glad I found this thread. Good to know I'm doing something right. I was kind of freaked out. Reading some of the other stuff in this thread.... eww... I think I'm just gonna take this one step at a time.

    Hi BeFearless, welcome!
I didn't get any facial rash, but you might want to try rinsing your face with some water with dissolved epsom salts. Let it air dry.
Perhaps someone else may have another suggestion.

I've been having some of these same symptoms coughing and itching so glad to find this thread. I've been doing CT for awhile and these symptoms have just appeared recently so must be overloading my system. This thread is pretty old so how did everyone overcome the die-off...slow down and take detox support?
