Dr. K, on another thread you recommended that I get a DEXA scan to determine where I really am health wise. Can you explain why the DEXA scan (bone density?) test will help me? I have a good friend who is an Ortho Surgeon so I can probably get one through their office but need to know what we are looking for in the results. I have had 2 spinal operations in last 12 years so I am sure I can get insurance to pay for most of it with a Ortho surgeon referral. Thank you so much!

I never said that.....I said you should consider a DEXA body comp scan........big difference. DEXA bone density only is not what you want because it tells yoi nothing about lean muscle mass or fat mass.
