CT vs Atrial Fibrillation. A nature's hint?

At the end of the last year I had my first tries with cold exposure - it was one or two times in a small pool near the house. Unfortunately, I've been quite busy, didn't take this excercise seriously and stopped doing it as fast as I started.
Few weeks later I got my first episode of atrial fibrillation - I woke up with a racing heartbeat and a pain in my chest. Before I went to the hospital, the one thing I can remember is that I had a very strong desire to jump into that cold pool.
The question is: would cold water immersion help stabilizing the heartbeat or was it a bad clue from my body? Does anyone else have similar experience?
