Even quite recently miniscule amounts of melatonin supplementations were advised to help getting sleep.
That usually was followed up again with advice of miniscule doses adjustments.
Years ago, I was trying LEF.org (Life Extension Foundations) products.
Newer seeing any effects from using it.

Now with discovery that pineal melatonin is a miniscule part of total melatonin production, much larger melatonin pills are available.

    I test 2x/year my melatonin.
Recently it went below minimum laboratory level.
I use now 60mg melatonin pills,
do not feel a thing, good or bad.
It does not make me sleepier.
I am falling asleep and waking up same way as I always was.
The test shows huge amounts of melatonin.

I'm wondering if worsening heteroplasmy rates from natural aging is likely to reduce endogenous melatonin production so there is possibly less spare to get into the serum?

Because I've got a retinal exam coming up which is likely to cause retinal damage, I'm hacking spirulina
    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6871545/
Dietary Spirulina Supplementation Protects Visual Function From Photostress by Suppressing Retinal Neurodegeneration in Mice

There's lot of potential compounds that could be providing retinal protection, and this isn't the brand I'm using but I think the one I've got has a similar profile, see the melatonin content for 30 small tablets ... I'm getting over a 100 mg a day ... (Still deciding the dose and timing when I go for the retinal exam ....)

One of the eyes problems come from high pressure in the eyeball.
When one goes to ophthalmologist to get new eyeglasses prescription it goes without saying that number of items in eyeballs will be checked.
Among them pressure in the eyeball.
I am guessing that retinal damage is mainly due to high pressure in the eyeballs.
I am checking my eyes yearly in the same place for the last 40 years or more.
Few years ago, she told me to go to a place to take care about my high pressure.
    Narrow angle glaucoma.
They drilled holes in both of my eyeballs to allow drainage.
No medicines no nothing, just a poked a hole using laser.
By now checked it couple of times, all is well.
    --------------
I assumed that everywhere ophthalmologists do similar work.
    Not in Poland.
My girlfriend's brother (about 60yo) lives in Poland.
About a month ago one of his eyes blew up, just for that reason.
    He wears eyeglasses.

IOP is checked fortunately, :). Slightly high in my damaged eye, but its being monitored, so at the moment I've got time to see what I can do before going down the medical route. This is quite an interesting paper published in January about blue light damage and spirulina done in human RPE cells in culture, and another experiment in mice.

    https://www.mdpi.com/2072-6643/14/3/401/htm
Protective Effects of Spirulina maxima against Blue Light-Induced Retinal Damages in A2E-Laden ARPE-19 Cells and Balb/c Mice

I've also seen a reference in a book about spirulina about a clinical report by Yoshito Yamazaki, MD, lecturer at Tokyo College of Medicine
https://books.google.co.uk/books?id...lecturer at Tokyo College of Medicine&f=false
but haven't found the report yet.

When I was writing my above post, I thought that it may prevent you from going
    "the medical route".
"Monitoring" is just a name for doing nothing.

I am assuming that you have available the laser drilling hole way in the place you live.

My GF's brother also had his problem in the weaker eye.
Possibly the eyes are weaker because they have inferior drainage system.

I haven't opted out of the medical route, it was the medical route's clinical decision, which might change. :) The first course of action for prediabetes isn't a prescription for insulin, so if there's such a small rise on one occasion, with no immediate risk it gives me a chance to research info that isn't on offer from them. :)

For example I've only seen the abstract of this https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1111/jfbc.12030 i
The Extract of Chlorella vulgaris Protects Transformed Retinal Ganglion Cells from Oxidative Stress-induced Cells Death

"Chlorella vulgaris is used in alternative medicine and traditional foods because of its high nutritional content and significant amounts of lutein, which may be beneficial in protecting against age-related eye diseases such as cataract, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), and glaucoma. However, its protective effect against glaucoma-related retinal ganglion cell degeneration has not been investigated. This study aimed to examine whether the extract of C. vulgaris (ECV) could be protective against retinal degeneration. Our results indicate that ECV can protect retinal cells from oxidative stress-induced damage both in vitro and in vivo. These effects may be due to the anti-apoptotic potencies of compounds contained in C. vulgaris.
Thus, C. vulgaris may be a useful supplement to prevent retinal degeneration."

I read the old paper ages ago about green light reducing IOP and red light raising it, but there's a mention of more recent trial here
https://healingtheeye.com/Articles/Syntonic_Light_Therapy_Glaucoma.html. So one link to chlorella may be the chlorophyll, but in any case when I read the original research it influenced my decisions about using artificial red lights, because even with a source of NIR they don't have the balancing visible frequencies of the sun.

If they prescribe drops or laser, and I do nothing else, the underlying causes will be same, and could be affecting other parts of my brain. Whether they decide I need treatment or not, I won't be doing nothing.:)

    @JanSz

The chlorella I'm taking has 0.9 mg of spermidine per gram, and this video relates it to spike proteins and autophagy.

As people age, they need eyeglasses.
To save money most see optometrist to get a script. Optometrist (often works also as optician and make the eyeglasses.
Overall, often people are missing most of the eye care.

I think I have that kind situation at Costco, where they make my glasses.
But for scripts I am seeing ophthalmologist.

    @Sue-UK
Whatever else you will be trying:
    1. I wish you to be successful
    2. Make sure that you see ophthalmologist numerous times over a year, and have him check eye pressure (and make sure to listen to her/his advice).
You do not have to comply to that advice but keep it in your mind.
I see ophthalmologist yearly. It just happens that the companies I work for were sending me to them. Latter after I stopped working, I just kept that habit.

I think the machinery and even the procedure that I had was somewhat different.
But this is idea of how this procedure is done.

If you did watch this video Dr. Kruse just put a nice beautiful bow on it with today’s posts on FB...11/11/2022

GEOENGINEERING 101: Electrosmog = Low quantum yield = air pollution = geo-engineering = blocked sunlight = lowered quantum yield = Latitude = population density = lowered solar power in all ranges = lowered UV exposure = low dopamine and melatonin = low serotonin/tryptophan = low folate = Earth does not have its full spectrum of light = Tarp over a tree = trees die no matter if they are watered and have access to CO2 and minerals from the ground = your modern world modeled = mitochondria that cannot make CO2 or water and leads to cytosolic cellular dehydration in the cytoplasm surrounding mitochondria. What makes that WATER in our cells? MITOCHONDRIA DOES USING terrestrial SUNLIGHT AS THE INCIDENT natural EMF to create things we need and use. We need that water to assimilate the deep power of sunlight to build Time. Lowered water content lowers the quantum yield in a leaf due to diminished photosynthetic yield. Folate is found in foods and those foods' folate levels are tied to how terrestrial sunlight is refined into this B vitamin. The same holds true for hemoglobin because of the molecular similarities of chlorophyll and hemoglobin molecules.

Photons of light come to Earth in a timeless state and cells use dopamine and melatonin to make time once terrestrial light hits them in cells. It turns out melatonin is capable of suspending time during sleep because of electrostatics and the link to magnetism.

What light we design and choose to live under, designs the diseases we get in the modern world.

Nature is the perfect alchemist for mitochondria. True alchemists do not change lead into gold; they change sunlight into health span. "Unwarranted arrogance" of nature often runs into a brick wall called karma for mitochondria.

Nature requires a ransom for living things that do not connect with her chronically that is paid in illness and disease. Almost any disease is curable.…… just not every patient is because they refuse to alter their environment to suit their mitochondrial genome and they wind up with an autoimmune condition. Geo-engineering limits disease reversal.

    Electrosmog and autoimmune disease

Also Dr. Rob (UK) mentions in the video that a large amount of his COVID-19 patients have low folate....

    Dr. Kruse’s new blog....Quantum Engineering #19

“New blog out on how sunlight, folate, and autism are all linked to how light is refined or not refined by your cells to lead to disease.

Mitochondrial cytochrome proteins are like MRI machines for electrons and protons. They are designed to tell the difference in the energies of electrons and protons energies and information. From those two physical differences, the proteins within the cytochromes dictate the pathway where those subatomic particles should flow.

When we are in an environment that is withdrawing energy from us, while causing entropy to rise, our cells and tissues want all the metabolic and hormone help we can muster to remain well. This implies that metabolism and hormone levels are optimized when our ability to separate charges in water is maximized.

Another way to state this in metabolic biologic jargon: When carbohydrates are used consistently 24/7 in long light cycles, this implies cytokines levels remain high (warmer); therefore, inflammation is high, proton levels are highest for mitochondria to handle, and glutathione levels inside a cell are very low. These physical and electrical differences lead to effects in cellular proteins and water to alter the molecular spin (known as Larmor frequency) of the hydration cells around your nucleic acids, proteins, membranes, and around your mitochondria:

The molecular spins around RNA and DNA are also drastically altered daily and seasonally due to the sensitivity and specificity of the mitochondria and its proteins. This alters folate levels which change methylation patterns. A change in the frequency of light leads to a different refined product in cells that change responses in RNA, DNA, and mtDNA. This directly alters your epigenetic programming and its library’s variability and ability to react to all environmental pressures from changes in the sun’s electromagnetic spectrum of energies and forces in our environment. Solar light changes the charge density of proteins to alter the refineries in cells. These electrical changes are measured in your redox potential in every cell of your body. The direct effects are found experimentally in DNA methylation and histone acetylation patterns in cells.

When glutathione drops, it implies that you are using up your cysteine stores too quickly. It also means folate deficiency occurs in your refinery. Moreover, It turns out that using up cysteine too rapidly makes you age faster than your biological age and makes you ill on the way to accomplishing that task. It also implies thiamine stores are destroyed as redox power is lost. As a result, pyruvate rises and so will blood lactate as ATP drops.

All these refinery changes occur when light changes as we revolve around the planet below our ability to sense it. This blog gets into how one of the refined products sculpts your life.”
