    Tetrathiomolybdate (TTM) is an anti-copper drug initially developed to treat Wilson's disease, a genetic disease characterized by excessive accumulation of copper in the liver and consequent liver and brain damage. The copper-chelating property of TTM was discovered decades ago in Australia and New Zealand, where ruminants developed copper deficiency due to naturally formed TTM in the sulfur-rich rumen.

    There is increasing evidence for the crucial role of metals in the pathology of Alzheimer's disease. Both the aggregation and neurotoxicity of amyloid-β are dependent on the presence of copper. This study investigated the ability of the copper-complexing drug tetrathiomolybdate to reduce amyloid-β pathology and spatial memory impairment in both a prevention and a treatment paradigm in the Tg2576 mouse model of Alzheimer's disease. Tetrathiomolybdate treatment lowered brain copper and reduced amyloid-β levels in the prevention paradigm, but not in the treatment paradigm. Our data suggests that controlled lowering of systemic copper may achieve anti-amyloid effects if initiated early in the disease process.

    This article talks about three copper chelators that are otc . I like the molydenum chelates period.


    The best things to stay away from are chocolate and shellfish, from what I read.


    We have to get rid of surplus copper and add zinc to help with the candida. The iron will be used appropriately (allegedly) if the right balance is hit.

    I just alternate between sardines and pork and beef and still eat liver. If I don't have something greasy, I don't bother. I think minerals pretty much get carried by fat. I was eating the shrimp, but I can ditch it for a couple of months. No butter is proving disappointing and the dogs are higher on the pecking order for the bacon fat apparently.

    I had melasma (often due to high copper) that faded after lowering my intake of high copper foods (chocolate, nuts) and taking molybdenum and zinc.
