My grandmother has recently been diagnosed with cervical spine canal stenosis. She is 83 now.
The surgeons of course want to operate, but I read about this is rarely helpfull. Also they want/must take out her thyroid to get to the canal from the front. So double bad.
I now people cant give medical advice here but is there a way to get around this? She herself doesnt want to do the surgery and I think if I can offer her some other way she would take it.

They dont remove anything in this surgery from the gland.

And if the gland is a little bigger than usual? My grandmother said this, that they have enough room to get there from the front. She decided to let it do, because its getting worse fast.
