Celiac and seasonality

    Just saw this at NYT - http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/10/29/really-celiac-disease-is-influenced-by-season-of-birth/?smid=tw-nytimeshealth&seid=auto.

    Reportedly, babies born in spring/summer are more likely to develop celiac disease. They theorize it is because when babies are typically weaned at 6 months and start eating gluten, it will be wintertime when colds & flu are more common, thus depressing the babies' immune systems. No mention about what the mother is exposed to when she's pregnant during fall, winter & early spring when she is probably not eating based on seasonal food availability.
