      You can also check Apache Junction or Superior which is farther East from Mesa

      I would try craigslist.org to find something in the area. Maps.google.com will let you find the Mesa Airport. Mesa is a large city and you should have no problem finding a place....who knows about a guest house. Also being a MI boy, be prepared for summers from hell as far as heat is concered. I 8 years living here, we have only stayed one summer. Never again. We travel N to Co, Id, Mt Wa in an RV

      There are remote locations north and east of Tempe/Mesa but you have to contend with the Mesa commercial airport radar.

        Interesting--so far I've been looking mostly into renting a 1-br guesthouse, but I hadn't considered that. Do you know how I could go about finding some of those locations? I live in MI at the moment so can't go there in person. Good catch on the Mesa airport...lots to consider

      If I have my druthers, I would pick a west coast area like Ventura, Oxnard, Santa Barbara, Pismo Beach Grover Beach, Carpenteria. Plenty of year round sunshine, beach is close by for walking in the surf bathing suit only, and good for Ct and the emfs are just like any other city.

        Hey--thanks for the advice. My decision's already been made though and there's not really any getting out of it, at least for the upcoming year or so. Now my main goal is to find a living place as isolated as possible.
